Disclosure: this is a chocolate hazelnut spread. It doesn’t taste like Nutella as it has much less sugar etc. but you can tweak the recipe to your own taste and make it as indulgent as you like.
Ingredients:
100g raw hazelnuts (with/without skins)
15g cocoa powder
40 mls maple syrup
20-30ml warm water (YOU CAN ALSO REPLACE SOME/ALL WATER WITH MAPLE SYRUP)
1/4-1/2 tsp vanilla extract
This recipe is tweakable and you can make it that bit more sweet if you prefer. To be honest I think it tastes nicer with 70 ml maple syrup and no water, but I was aiming for the healthiest version of the spread. You can also melt chocolate and mix it in for an even more indulgent recipe.
Method is in the video down below.
It’s relatively simple, however make sure your hazelnuts have formed a creamy/fully blended nut-butter before adding the other ingredients. Also note: you will need a high quality blender/food processor for this.
I sort of made this up as I went and I’m happy with the result. I hope you enjoy this healthier more wholesome & most importantly #vegan version of the famous chocolate spread. This of course doesn’t really taste like Nutella, but it definitely is delicious. And if you want to make it a bit more comparable you just have to add a bit more maple syrup and try adding some melted chocolate😊
NOTE: DUE TO IT’S LOW SUGAR CONTENT, IT KEEPS BEST IN A FRIDGE. THE VERSION WITHOUT WATER AND ALL MAPLE SYRUP STORES BETTER.
