Nakd bars ROCK!

Nakd bars - have you ever heard of, or tried them? They come in all different flavours, and what's wonderful is that they're 100% natural. They contain no added sugars, syrups, no artificial additives, so basically no crap! They depend on the dates for their sweetness, and the natural ingredients for their unique flavour. The simplest bar contains just dates and cashews. I know! That's it!

Not everyone will like them all, some will prefer one flavour over the other. My favourites are salted caramel, lemon drizzle and cashew cookie. I recently converted my best-friend to the nakd-life - and that's nakd, not naked... completely different things. She now curses me for being responsible for her addiction. But hey, what a good addiction to have!

Dates are a low GI food, so despite their sugar content, they don't give the same spike in blood sugar levels that highly-processed cane sugar does.

Of course, with everything, you do need moderation. Even though the sugar is natural, too much of any sugar at once is not good for your body. It's why I don't recommend that people obtain their 5 portions of fruit in one single smoothie. You've got to spread it out. Balance is key!

Nevertheless, a nakd bar is by far the best tasty, healthy sweet-treat that I've found to date. (Date... get it?).

Where to buy?

You can find them in most shops, but they can be expensive. I usually get them in Holland and Barrett. When they have their one-cent-sale promotion I stock up on them, and I end up getting them for as cheap as 60 cent a bar.

Tesco have started selling them too, at about €1 a bar. They also have a box of four for €3.25. You'll find them in the health-food section, which tends to be near the fruit aisle.
